Dear Ladies and Gentlemen! We are glad to introduce you to the ecological indices of the work of Zaporizhstal JSC based on the results of 2007. The achievement of such indices is a result of the realization of the Programme on revamping and modernization of the main Works equipment in the period up to 2015. Fulfillment of the environmental protection measures at Zaporizhstal JSC, based on the results of its work in 2007, made it possible to maintain a significant ecological effect on all environmental activities: reduction of emissions into atmosphere, discharge into water reservoirs and burial of production waste. As a result of the fulfilled environmental protection measures in 2007, the total emissions into atmosphere per ton of produced steel amounted to 17.4 kg/t against 17.9 kg/t in 2006. During accomplishment of water control measures aimed at saving and rational usage of water resources, the Works has maintained the following results in the period 2000-2007: - Reduction of return water discharge into the Dnieper River by 11.55 mln m3;
- Reduction of polluting agents discharge into the Dnieper River by 8350 t/year.
Thanks to the policy of the Works regarding the utilization of waste, the fulfillment of technical and organizational measures, with the increase of waste amount, it has been noticed that there is an increase of secondly used and realized production waste, and reduction of the waste delivered for storage.
