September 27th commissioning of an important environment protection installation, included in the programmes on technical revamping of the Works’ production and overcoming of the ecological crisis in the Zaporozhye region, took place. This is a complex of equipment including 2 powerful electric precipitators, pipelines for fume-laden gas and clean gas, 10 conveyors to remove the caught dust plus a gallery consisting of 2 conveyors, a collecting hopper and screw mixers for humidification of the dust with its further utilization. Construction of the purification plants cost the Works more than 100 million UAH and it took 2 years. The electric precipitators are able to clean 800 m3 of fume-laden air per hour each and they return to production about 2500 tons of iron containing dust per year. From now on all the dust from the tail parts of the sintering machines, and that is 25% of Zaporizhstal JSC emissions, will be caught, and the city atmosphere will considerably improve. |
