At present Zaporizhstal JSC is a leading industrial enterprise of the Zaporozhye region not only on production of products but also on introduction of advanced power saving, and nature preserving technologies. Only in the last 6 years has Zaporizhstal JSC spent approximately 3.5 billion UAH of its own assets on modernization and reconstruction of capital assets, including 845 million UAH on the construction of units for environment protection. This allowed our Works to reduce emissions two times keeping total production volume. The material and intellectual investment of Zaporizhstal JSC in the environment protection of Zaporozhye tens of times exceeds the total contribution of all the industrial enterprises of the city. Apart from that, it is hard to over estimate the contribution of the metallurgists of Zaporizhstal in the development of the social sphere of Zaporozhye and the filling of the budgets of all levels. In the framework of the developed programme of technical reconstruction and modernization of production technology up to 2015 the Works is radically planning to reconstruct the sintering, steel making and rolling production by investing more than 15 billion UAH. We are going to accomplish everything that we have planned, because all our efforts are directed towards welfare of every Zaporozhye citizen, our children and grandchildren. In 2002 in the framework of the ecological and economical experiment in several cities of Ukraine, the Zaporozhye regional council adopted “Programme on overcoming the ecological crisis in 2001-2010”. It was foreseen to finance the experiment at the expense of means of the state and local budgets, state and local funds of environmental protection.
