Zaporizhstal JSC produces over 600 types and sizes of cold roll-formed sections having irregular cross-sectional shape which cannot be produced by hot rolling or stamping. Cold roll-formed sections differ from the hot-rolled and stamped ones of similar size and application by optimum distribution of steel throughout the section resulting in their higher operating characteristics. This allows to save up to 20 % of steel under considerably lower labor input for production of the end product. Economic efficiency of roll-formed sections’ application depends on the reduction of the structures’ weight, reduction of labor input involved in their production, increase of strength, life durability and reduction of maintenance costs.
Development and production mastering of new types of cold roll-formed sections under the customers’ orders are being continuously carried out at the Works. Roll-formed sections are made of the following steel grades: - ordinary quality carbon steel grades St1kp,ps; St2kp,ps; St3kp,ps according to GOST 380-94; - quality structural steel grades 08kp,ps; 15kp,ps; 20kp,ps according to GOST 1050-88; - low-alloyed steel grades 09G2, 09G2D according to GOST 19281-89 and GOST 17066-80; - stainless steel grades 10X13G18DU (DU-61U) according to TU U 27.1-00190319-1305-2003. Technical requirements for roll-formed sections are determined by GOST 11474-76. Minimum delivery batch of roll-formed sections included in the Works’ catalogue are the following: - of ordinary quality carbon steel, quality structural steel and stainless steel – above 60 tons of each section size; - of low-alloyed steel – 175 tons.
